I have two votes for Saturday evening for the IMAX digital projection of Star Trek at the Stonecrest Shopping Center Regal Cinema (Rea Rd, Charlotte). I'm thinking 7p.m. showing, anyone else?
The IMAX Controversy In recent months, there have been complaints about the IMAX systems in the AMC and Regal Cinema chains. Here's the deal 1.) Star Trek was not shot in IMAX (unlike The Dark Knight), which is why Discovery Place (which has an authentic IMAX Dome) is not carrying the film. 2.) The Regal Cinema IMAX screen is not an actual, massive IMAX screen. They use a retrofitted screen with IMAX digital projection. The screen is too big for their cineplexes. 3.) The Advantage of IMAX Digital over regular theatre: IMAX quality sound, better picture resolution, better seating arrangements. Disadvantage: $15/ticket.
Options 1.) Watch it on a regular screen. If so, do we watch it Charlotte on Saturday evening, or Gastonia on Sunday after the next Coffee Meetup? 2.) Go ahead with the plan. IMAX Digital Saturday evening.
If the Diogenes Club and Fight Club had an intermittently gregarious baby, it would be The Gastonia Society for Free Thought. People come here to discuss all the things forbidden by polite society. No topic is off-limits, just be ready to defend your views with evidence. This is an atheist-friendly group, but it is independent and unaffiliated from all other organizations. This is "disorganized" atheism free of obligations, sociopolitical litmus tests, or agenda. No attendance is taken, no RSVP's are required, and no solicitation will be made. You don't even have to join the group officially, just show up if you are so inclined.
Pro-Tip: Don't solicit or proselytize. Don't run your game here, people.
