Android Widgets

Starting at 6:30pm, we'll have free food sponsored by Arbormoon Software, Inc.

Our main meeting will start at 7pm. Keith Bourne and Melissa Benzie of Arbormoon Software will go in-depth into the world of widgets, from strategy to practical implementation. App Widgets are miniature application views that can be embedded in other applications (such as the home screen) and receive periodic updates. Widgets are extensions of your app that provide a whole new level of creative freedom and functionality that aren't even available on that "other" platform. Join us and learn about this exciting aspect of the Android platform.

Melissa Benzie, Senior Sofware Engineer at Arbormoon Software - Melissa has many years of experience developing applications for a variety of industries including automotive, manufacturing, marketing, technology, and medical companies.  She is currently developing mobile apps on Android and iOS platforms for Arbormoon.

Keith Bourne, Lead Mobile Strategist for Arbormoon Software - Keith got into mobile in the 90’s when everyone else was chasing Internet companies. Because of this, he is one of the most experienced mobile strategy professionals in the field. Over the years, he built and refined his expertise in launching new businesses, new products, and strategically driving the growth of companies he is involved with, often into triple digit revenue growth within months. He has deep knowledge in the breadth of areas that makes launching new ventures and product lines successful – marketing, technology development and deployment, product innovation, brand management, business development, sales and field work management and support, relationship management, operational improvements, and revenue generation. Keith is co-founder of multiple network groups, including the Michigan chapter of Mobile Monday, which has grown to 4 chapters and over 2,500 members in just three years.
