The Draper gem (@episko) & How to speed up a web app (@alexis_bernard)

Axel Vergult (@episko) is going to present the Draper gem.
From the doc:

Draper adds an object-oriented layer of presentation logic to your Rails application.

Without Draper, this functionality might have been tangled up in procedural helpers or adding bulk to your models. With Draper decorators, you can wrap your models with presentation-related logic to organise - and test - this layer of your app much more effectively.

… and Alexis Bernard (@alexis_bernard) will show us how to speed up our web apps:
He will address various points along the complete web stack (front- and backend) to optimize a web application.

See you there!

I would like to thank everybody for yesterday event, and for being so generous in tolerating my non-existing french.

Regarding Draper, I made some simple tests of showing 1K, 3K, 5K and 10K records on a view, with both NewRelic and RailsPanel (localhost + development mode), I can't say that Draper behaved badly, on the controller side, most of the time it was slightly more ms, sometimes even slightly less or really more :D (2x,3x or x5!), I guess GC plays a role here.

Anyway, It would be quite interesting if someone try something out and share it. Mean while I will add Draper to the arsenal :), Thanks!
