*** THIS BOARD WILL BE CLOSING ON 11/29**** see recent post for where we are moving to!
Meet other local people who are interested in learning about permaculture design-a pathway to sustainable human existence.
This meetup is primary in Atlanta, but this group WILL have information about other Permaculture Meetups in the state of Georgia. For more info see www.georgiapermaculture.com
Permaculture (PERMAnent agriCULTURE or PERMAnent CULTURE) is a sustainable design science based on the observation of natural systems, focusing on the harmonious interrelationship of humans, plants, animals and the Earth. It includes things like organic gardening, composting, animals, and much, much more!
What is Permaculture Design?-From the Founder of permaculture Bill Mollison's website, www.tagari.com :
The philosophy of Permaculture is to reduce the impact that human settlements have on non-renewable and renewable resources, while creating an abundant living environment, catering to the needs of all living creatures. Permaculture is a science developed through the observation and analysis of natural systems. Through this analysis set structural patterns common to all natural systems emerge. Permaculture design then applies these “Patterns” to the development of sustainable human settlements, harmoniously integrating landscape and people while providing food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way.
In our meetups we will learn about the Permaculture Principles, Ethics, pattern understanding, systems and more. We will also do walk-about tours of our host site-Oakhurst Community Gardens, and will always have time for talking about upcoming events, sharing and answering questions.
Hope to see you there!
