My name is Ed Heinlein, and as many of you have probably noticed on the website, I have taken over for Gretchen as the new organizer.
I am a retired German teacher, who lives near the airport in Moon Township. I have been a member since May, 2011 and have taught two ten-week classes of Conversational German with the DANK School. I have a lot of ideas for meetups and/or seminars for the group from my teaching and travel days to get people involved in activities and events.
I am also working as a German consultant from my website, www.edheinleingermanconsultant.com, for teaching, tutoring, translation and researching German genealogy. My philosophy is "Have German will travel." The first two things I want to accomplish are, one, to meet everybody and find out if my suggestions or ideas for events will reach your goals and to listen to your ideas for new meetup activities. My goal is to set up four meetups in the near future to do this. I have found that Panera Bread restaurants are an excellent place for people to meet and are located throughout the Pittsburgh area. My thoughts for the areas are Cranberry (North), Robinson or Center Township (West), Galleria in Mt. Lebanon (South), and Waterworks in Fox Chapel or Monroeville (East). These are open for discussion and for changes. Two, if you have studied any German in the past, I am going to set up a review exercise in the near future to determine your level of proficiency. I hope to hand it out to members at these meetups, or I can also email it to members who can't attend any of the meetups. I hope this will help everyone at the Kaffeeklatsche. Jetzt ist das genug.
Hopefully these efforts will help members who haven't visited the website for a while, attend meetups in the future. For individual communication, please send me your email addresses. (I have some of them already.) You may contact me any time, by phone [masked]), or by email ([address removed]).
Mit freundlichen Grüßen
