How to get to the George Inn Yard (London Bridge)

Hi guys,

Shakespeare used to come here for a drink. There's also a connection to Dickens but this is probably not the place mentioned in Oliver Twist, it is apparently the place mentioned in Little Dorrit though.

This one is so easy to find that you could almost sleepwalk from the London Bridge tube station to the pub. Please bear in mind that this is not the village pub, the bar staff serve hundreds of patrons and the pub also takes no bookings so I can't tell things like "we'll be upstairs".

Do not:

  • Walk around the pub and the beer garden trying to pick if someone is speaking German
  • Go upstairs and search for us there, we never sit upstairs at this venue
  • Ask the bar staff where we sit, you are not in Inchnadamph (that's a hamlet in the Scottish Highlands if you are wondering)
  • Give up and go home and then blame someone for not finding us

  • Use the Google Streetview links below and get familiar with the street
  • Once there go the back of the beer garden or in the Southwark bar room and look for the Meetup signs or people with a coloured round sticker (red, orange or green). They're with us and they know where we sit (I gave them the sticker)
  • I give my mobile number about 2 days before any event, save the number and call me if you can't find us

Here's the address:

George Inn Yard
77 Borough High Street
London SE1 1NH

At the London Bridge tube station (Jubilee or Northern Line - Bank Branch), locate the Borough High Street exit.

  • Once out of the Borough High Street exit, do not cross the road, just turn left
  • Keep going for about 5 mins until you see the entrance to the George Inn Yard on your left
  • The George Inn is in the courtyard along the right hand side, we might be outside in the courtyard or inside
