Shakespeare used to come here for a drink. There's also a connection to Dickens but this is probably not the place mentioned in Oliver Twist, it is apparently the place mentioned in Little Dorrit though.
This one is so easy to find that you could almost sleepwalk from the London Bridge tube station to the pub. Please bear in mind that this is not the village pub, the bar staff serve hundreds of patrons and the pub also takes no bookings so I can't tell things like "we'll be upstairs".
