We are about having fun!
Most of our events are very loosely structured. Event hosts come up with something they enjoy doing and invite others in the group to join them. They usually give everyone a name tag, but after that you are on your own to to enjoy the activity. If you are new, let the event host know, and they may be able to introduce you to a few members.
Always remember you are responsible to introduce yourself to others. You might think everyone else knows each other, but you would be wrong. This group is large and there are always lots of newer members. Make an effort to break out of your comfort zone and try to meet someone you don't know. That is how some great friends are made and you may be making another person feel welcome. How do you start participating in the Meetup Group?
First you need to join, after that I recommend looking at the calendar of events
. Choose ones that look fun or interesting, RSVP, mark it on your calendar, and attend the event. You are on your way. If the first one is not fun, try a another one. Each event is different.
We are always looking for members to host events. If you have an idea and are a regular member send us your suggestion. Please read these Event Rules and Guidelines
before making your suggestion.
Why is it so important to be social? MORE people live alone now than at any other time in history. In prosperous American cities — Atlanta, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco and Minneapolis
— 40 percent or more of all households contain a single occupant. People living alone are far more likely to want and enjoy getting out of the house to find their social interactions. This is exactly what we offer. The name says it all!
Life is a journey so why not make the journey fun and exciting. "Get Out"
of the house, make new friends, go to new places, laugh, dance, and let loose. We are social beings, and this is the place to "Get Social"
.We are in the top 10 of the most active meetup groups in the world out of 139,000+ groups and 196 countries.
