This month's gig is beautifully eclectic, from the classic blues/rock of Preachers Son, to the ethereal indie/folk tones of We Raise Bears, and the wonderfully crafted sound of recent records signing Riot Tapes.

As always entry is only €5 when you RSVP here; your name will be on the door. Doors open at 8pm with the first act on soon after, though we'll have time to mingle by the fire in the foyer too! The bands will continue until 11pm, and TXFM DJ Claire Beck will be on the decks 'til the wee hours.

Preachers Son

Brainchild of Dubliner Brian Hogan, Preachers Son are a heady brew of grit-glam, blues tinged, swamp rock featuring bursts of downright filthy riffs!

With a take-no-prisoners energy the band have played in Ireland, UK, Italy, Canada and the USA. New album 10 Stories Tall produced by legendary US producer Warren Huart (Aerosmith, The Fray) was released in August and has already received airplay on both Irish and UK radio, including BBC Radio 1 & 2, Planet Rock, Kerrang, RTÉ 1 & 2, Nova and 98 FM amongst others. Preachers Son will be joining English legends The Quireboys this November on their UK leg of their Worldwide 30th Anniversary tour, so we're doubly delighted that they can play for us at Gigonometry tonight.

Riot Tapes

Riot Tapes were formed in 2009 by Dubliner Elaine Doyle and US native Chris O'Brien. The two traded songs online and quickly discovered that the partnership was fruitful and exciting.

In 2010 the duo released their debut single Photograph, which received local and even some international airplay, national media exposure and extremely positive reviews in Ireland and abroad.

In 2011, after much gigging and writing, Riot Tapes decided that the time was right to record their soon to be released debut album. It was recorded in Ireland & the UK, before being mixed in Nashville.

In 2013 the band joined forces with eminent Irish label Reekus Records - who will be releasing it and helping the band find a much deserved larger audience.

We Raise Bears

Dublin-based 2-piece We Raise Bears are fast becoming known for their live performances which have been described as intense, emotionally-charged and raw, whilst the band's equally noticeable approach to song-crafting reveals a penchant for prolific lyricism and curiously arresting arrangements.

Having originally met while respectively studying music (Conor Miley) and fine art (Sharon Murphy), the pair eventually formed the band in early 2014. As a springboard, and armed with just a guitar, harmonium, pedals, light percussion and two voices, they set about capturing the raw essence of newly composed songs in a series of live videos, recorded in a remote farmhouse location.

Using the blueprint of these live recordings, they have spent the first half of this year gigging regularly, playing some of Dublin's best known venues (Whelan's, the Workman's Club and Bewley's Theatre), while also making their festival debut at Kilkenny's Light Colour Sound Festival and increasingly traveling outside the capital to play, including our very own Gigonometry Goes To....Slane gig in June.

We Raise Bears are gearing up for releasing their debut EP early next year.
