Just wanted to let you know that we’ve now confirmed a date and venue for the May event. This will be at our new Summer home for 2010 @ Cargo in Shoreditch. Hopefully a really good fit for us as it offers a brilliant outside bbq area, a great bar but also more importantly a nice space to do the talks properly. The date for this is going to be the Thursday 20th May which is pretty soon! Having said that we’re really happy to be back on a Thursday (much better for after work drinks than these Tuesday/Wednesday events!)
One of the founding partners at AllofUs, Mickey has recently left to set up Utile & Beau. He’ll be talking about the new venture some of his previous work and his thoughts on digital generally.
We’ve been huge fans of their work for some time, so we’re very pleased to show them off at this May event. The team will be talking through a few key projects and how they work etc.
More talks to be announced next week...(likely to be 4 in total)
SEND US YOUR SHOWREEL >
As Cargo has 2 big screens that we can use when the talks aren’t on we thought it would be nice to promote/show off some of your work. Please send us your showreel and we'll be picking the best ones to show on the night. To do this please email email@example.com
PRICE, FREE DRINK or FOOD >
Tickets are £5.50 you can buy these here now:
We’re also very pleased to say thanks to our friends at Digital Gurus who are subsidising this event, that means you’ll be able to get a free bbq token or drinks voucher on the door for EVERYONE that comes in!
As always we'll be adding extra bits to the lineup in the next few weeks but please get your tickets quickly. The last event sold out with a week to go and it's never nice to be saying to people they can't come along.
Can't wait for these summer events. Always so much fun to have relaxed beers in the sun!

GLUG SOMERSET HOUSE >
Big thanks to everyone that came to the Somerset House event last week. Hopefully you enjoyed the massive array of artwork and talent on show. We know it was a pretty unusual event for us with a lot more gallery / exhibition space than usual, but hopefully you'll agree it was too good to miss working with Pick Me Up on this! The May event is much more traditional Glug in terms of relaxed bar environment, laid back drinking and fun.
Also, we do try our best to take on board peoples comments on the meetup about the talks and the queues and even that it was overpriced. I guess just quickly we’d say - yes we’re sorry about the queues, but getting 800 people in a place all at once can be tough. That we had to do the talks this way due to the nature of the venue - this was the only real option and those who got to see them hopefully were happy with the sound and production etc and finally that we don’t make a penny out of Glug, it’s done for the love or rather the enjoyment of getting like minded people together. The full door price went to Somerset House who in turn used this to put on this special evening event and festival. It’s actually £5 to go into the Pick Me Up festival during the day, so £2.50 extra for the evening event seemed fair we thought.
