Talk #1: Get your legacy language and Go to collaborate

By: Matt Aimonetti @mattetti (https://twitter.com/mattetti)

Go is a great language but it's not always the best tool for the job. Your existing code base might also be built on top of another language requiring you to find ways to make your old code and your new code interact. Splice's technical stack is very broad using multiple programming languages but Go is at the heart of the system. Matt will discuss the integration work done between Go and Ruby, the challenges faced and the various approaches to address these challenges.

Matt Aimonetti is Splice cofounder, an experienced technologist, entrepreneur, technical writer (http://www.oreilly.com/pub/au/4385) and active open-source contributor (http://matt.aimonetti.net/posts/archives/). He is based in Southern California. Prior to Splice, Matt worked as a Tech manager/developer at LivingSocial, on video game development at Sony PlayStation and on many other things.

Talk #2: Building a Distributed Database Written in Go

By: Paul Dix @pauldix (https://twitter.com/pauldix)

This talk will give a very quick introduction to InfluxDB, an open source distributed time series, metrics, and events database written in Go. It will dig into some of the internals of the code including design decisions of the distributed portions of the code. We will then open up for discussion of best approaches for building distributed systems in Go.

Paul Dix is the Founder of InfluxDB (YC company), moderator for NYC Machine Learning meetup.
