Dive the famous Copenhagen wreck from the beach. Get plenty of rest for this healthy swim. The wreck has been there since 1900, so there is no hurry for us to suit up and swim out from our special launch point in the Sea Watch parking lot. This is a fantastic opportunity to dive a site that other divers pay $50-$60 to visit by boat. You can read more about the historic significance and site details of the S.S. Copenhagen at the following URL: http://www.museumsint... (http://www.museumsinthesea.com/_docs/Copenhagen_brochure.pdf).

The Copenhagen is a natural wreck situated on the far side of the inner reef several hundred yards offshore at 2000 N. Ocean Blvd in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. The keel, much of the lower deck plating, a yard rest (pillow block) and the anchor provide a stunning backdrop for every species of tropical native to the area, as well as lobster, eels, rays, shark, tarpon, snook, mackeral and dozens of other visitors. Bring a camera because the pictures from our last visit were stunning. If we are lucky, we might have a day of 60-80 foot visibility. Kayaks are welcome also.

The Sea Watch Restaurant is hosting our dive and we have the privilege of enjoying their fine luncheon menu afterward. The prices are very reasonable and the seafood is delicious. Your meal is likely to cost little more than what you might pay to park for the same amount of time in a public lot.

(We'd much rather tip the waitress and valet than the meter maid, anyway!) We have lunch reservations for 10 at 1pm.

The restaurant is one of our sponsors, so you can check out their website and menu.

Keep in mind that it's about 3-4 mooring buoys north of the restaurant.

Be safe, enjoy life and have fun! http://img1.meetupstatic.com/img/smileys/smile.gif
