Goodnik Message Board › Launching Goodnik in Residence Program; Other Goodnik News
New York, NY
Goodnik is dedicated to gathering resources and support for non-profits and aspiring social entrepreneurs, and firmly believes that one of the most important resources a startup can have is the right workspace. This means not only a desk and a chair but an environment that is conducive to creativity and supports the entrepreneurial spirit. Given that mission, we are very excited to announce the launch of our Goodnik in Residence program!
Starting today we are offering social entrepreneurs and people starting nonprofit organizations the opportunity to join a coworking community in New York City for free. We will be giving grants of coworking membership worth more than $25,000 total at the following locations:
· Hive at 55
· Projective Space
· General Assembly
· New Work City
Each selected Resident Goodnik will receive a minimum of six months' of free coworking space to help get their social enterprise off the ground. And as active members of these co-working communities, they will also be able to develop important relationships with other companies and individuals who will be able to provide them with assistance, guidance, and perhaps even funding connections. Resident Goodniks from all locations will be part of a facilitated peer advisory group, hosted by Goodnik.
Eligible Goodnik members include social entrepreneurs starting for-profit "benefit corporations" as well as nonprofit organizations. Each coworking space has defined a unique set of criteria (listed on the Goodnik website)for Resident Goodnik applicants, and will make the final decision about which applicant they will accept. Note that each Resident Goodnik is just one person - no teams. If you have a partner in your project, contact firstname.lastname@example.org directly to see what kind of arrangement may be made.
Hive at 55 applications are being accepted as of today. Other residency spots will open shortly.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY FOR THE SPOT AT HIVE at 55
If you are a social entrepreneur who has a startup project and needs a place to work and a community to offer some support, the Goodnik in Residence program is for you!
The first coworking community to offer space through the program is Hive at 55. They would prefer a Resident Goodnik who is interested in urban development issues, or who has a project that is related in some way to some of the resources located in lower Manhattan, such as the Museum of the American Indian, the Holocaust Museum, Ellis Island, the 9/11 Memorial, Wall Street, NY City Government, the courts, police department, etc. Though their preference is for that focus, any social entrepreneur or nonprofit project may apply.
If your project fits that description, apply now at Goodnik.org. If you know someone who is working on something that might be related, feel free to forward this message. And of course if you have any questions, drop me a line at email@example.com.

We are planning an event - New Tech for Nonprofits, tentatively set for March 20th at 7pm. We will be sending more details shortly. If you would like to present a new product or feature of an existing technology, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
