Before Google he was a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Washington, Seattle.

Abstract:

Building collaborative applications using the Google Hangouts API.

Hangouts, one of the early killer features of Google+, provide free video conversations for up to 10 people. The Hangouts API is layered on top, allowing developers to build applications in the context of the hangout. In this talk, I'll briefly discuss the architecture of a hangout and some of its use cases. I'll then talk about how our realtime data methods enable collaborative applications like a shared YouTube viewer, and how our multimedia methods turn the video feeds into both output (via graphic effects) and input (via tracking various body parts).
