$10.00 per class (two hours)
We are New York City's premier "fechtschule" (Ger., "fight-school"), offering the highest quality instruction in historical European unarmed and weapon-based combat systems, from ancient Greek mixed martial arts ("pankration") to medieval Italian dagger to Renaissance German swordsmanship, grappling and shortstaff fencing.
We train regularly in Central Park (Manhattan) and McCarren Park (Williamsburg). In the winter months, we conduct seminars at indoor venues throughout New York City.
This is not an artificial reconstruction based on modern fighting systems; we train directly from historical sources.
Membership is open to both beginners and experienced martial artists of all backgrounds.
Classes may require fencing and/or martial arts equipment, so be sure to check the class description before you attend. Please note that we do not offer an archery curriculum.
Feel free to email us or call David James Knight at (917) 474-6415 if you'd like to know more.
We are holding a kampfringen/dagger workshop at New York Combat Sambo (225 West 36th street, near Penn Station) this Saturday, December 12, from 10am-noon.
This will be a very challenging, very physical class. A mouthguard (~$2, available at any sports store) is mandatory! Absolutely no exceptions! Read more

What members are saying
“ David Knight is an expert and a scholar of the western martial art form. ”
“ Other than the fact that it's a great way to keep yourself in shape, a formidable art of defense and just all around fun, it's a fighting art that I think has been dormant for far too long. ”
