    @Xiangying, you can ask apple gps team add a test case on this app. ^-^ I did not power off the cellular (4G) in my use, if you need better battery performance, you can try off the cellular and wireless signal during the gps tracking, the result should be much better.

    Yanming, Maps+ app is pretty cool. It used you 30% iPad battery for a 8 hour hike. Wonder how long it can last on iPhone's battery.

    Thanks Jianghong for organizing a great outing, and thanks for all the drivers and Yinni for volunteering to walk back to the parking lot. Great group.

    Sylvia, the distance calculated by gps will likely more than the marked trail distance (flat distance). I think the real distance is between 18 and 19miles.

    Beautiful redwood forest after the rain this week, fresh air and a relaxed long distance hiking. Thank you Jianghong for organizing the great hike!

    The hills are green, the forests, the meadows, and the red woods are so beautiful. I enjoyed the hike all the day. Thank you, Jianghong for organizing such a good trail today.

    just red-line again this time hiking trails. the pic I took from hiking before. Canyon Trail's ancient and newborn redwoods are a must-see. So this time hiking route will include that part. total mileage is almost same. hope you enjoy that 1.2 miles.

    Jianghong, the route in the picture doesn't match your route. The picture route seems going as:
    BrookTrailLoop->BearRidgeTrail->PomponioTrail->OldHaulRoad
    instead of as in your route:
    BrookTrailLoop->CanyonTrail->CoyoteRidgeTrail->OldHaulRoad.
    It could be misleading.

    @jian yang, just list the trail in the post. We will hiking together, that area easy to get lost, and difficult to find a right way back. And, not safe as mission peak at night.

    @Liada, u may need a copy of trail map.
