Ever-growing Collection of Travel-Related (and Local) Links and Guides

Welcome to the home page of the Houston Go~With~the~Flow Travel Group.

We're not just about traveling, or "going with the flow", we're very much also about "Houston". We realize that if we want to travel together we first need to get to know each other, and start feeling comfortable around each other. So over time (the first year of our existence) we've "instituted" several traditions that help us accomplish this. To name a few:

Destination Dinners

Organized by Ivy, this is were we visit a foreign restaurant in the greater Houston area and enjoy a multi-course meal in the tradition of the country chosen. Ivy picks restaurants based on their authenticity in offering foreign meals. While the pricing typically supersedes those at MacDonald's, these are not really expensive outings. And very "un-American": they typically last several hours.

ChicFlics

Often organized by Jen, this is where we join to go and see a typical "chic flic". Crying is allowed, but not mandatory. And we are very liberal in the use of the word "chic": guys AND gals are allowed to come. And a few times we have combined the ChicFlic with a GuyFlic, where members of both genders can join us and see one or both. We usually combine this with a simple lunch or dinner. Locations vary throughout the greater Houston area.

"Progressively Gets Worse" Dinners

This probably sounds worse than it is. After our very first, and very successful progressive dinner, we renamed to "Progressively Gets Worse", which is more an indication of fun than anything else. We select a series of restaurants: one to have pre-dinner drinks, one for appetizers, one for the main course, and one for coffee/desserts and usually we visit one or more places for after-dinner drinks. These places are selected to be in walking distance of each other.

Travel
And yes, we've also done some real "traveling":

Diversity

We are all about diversity. Our ages vary from early 20s to past-retirement age. We have about equal numbers of men and women. We have singles and couples. And people from all kinds of national and cultural backgrounds. Some people have known each other for a few years, others just joined recently. And we always welcome new members. Some members take the lead and organize events, others just join in the fun.

Membership is free, but obviously, on our outings we each pay our own way.
