Grails Caching & Ratpack

Details

Talk #1 - Improving application performance with caching in Grails (Replay from Gr8Conf!) by Ken Liu

Caching is an essential tool for improving the performance and scalability of web applications. In this talk, we’ll take a deep dive into implementing server-side caching in Grails applications.

We’ll first examine the Grails cache plugin family (grails-cache, cache-ehcache, cache-memcached) and show how to use the related Spring annotations. We'll also discuss how to implement Hibernate 2nd-level caching in GORM, with some working code examples. We will also understand some of the pitfalls to avoid when configuring these plugins.

We’ll also look at some common caching patterns and discuss some real-world use-cases for server-side caching.
