A few quick announcements / questions:
  • Gr8Conf Minneapolis Next Week - Is anybody else from NYC coming to Gr8Conf in Minneapolis next week?
  • CTO School Invitation (join at CTO School is another meetup I am involved with; It's an education / networking group for technical leaders - team leads, Startup CTOs, VP Eng, senior devs interested in making the transition to leadership roles.  Only technical people are allowed to to join in order to keep the level of discussion high (we recently passed 500 members).  Our next talk is on Monday, August 13th, on Big Data with Hilary Mason, Chief Scientist at   We always sell out though, so RSVP early.  More information about the group's goals is on
  • Discount on GroovyMag - Our group has a discount on GroovyMag (    Code nygg20 will get you a 20% discount.  Please do not distribute beyond the group.
  • More Organizers. We had a few people volunteer to help out with the meetup - thanks a lot!  I think with more organizers we'll have more consistency in our meetings.  Let me know if you'd like to help out as well.
  • Call for Speakers - If you are working on something cool Groovy / Grails, related, please let us know.    It would be nice to have several people who are willing to share some of their experiences, so we have a pipeline of potential speakers.   It doesn't have to be a big thing, if you have some small insight to share and are willing to speak for 10 minutes, no problem.
  • Groovy Experts for DevOps needed. I sent a note a few days ago, just a reminder if you are an expert Groovy person and are willing to speak about using Groovy in DevOps scenarios, please contact Uri Cohen <[address removed]>.
  • I'll send out the slides for Backbone.js presentation next week, as I'll be polishing it a bit over the weekend.    If you need them more urgently, please email me.
