How does it work?
The Guildford Book Group meets once a month in a pub in the town centre. In terms of what we read, books are nominated by members and chosen with a vote, it's all very democratic! Anything goes but mostly the choices are contemporary fiction. Take a look at the pages section to see what we've read in the past if you're interested.

Who are the members?
Mostly the members are professional people 20's 30's and 40's who live in the area but membership is open to all and there's a good mix of men and women. The group has been meeting since 2003.

Joining as a new member
New members are welcome although we try to keep meeting numbers to a sensible size and the group is very popular at the moment, so if you're joining as a new member you may not be accepted straight away.  We ask some questions when you apply, which we use to help decide when to allocate membership places.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
