Intro to Electronics, Week 2

  • October 17, 2012 · 8:00 PM

This is the second session out of five in a new course on introductory electronics. (It ought to be six, but we'll start running into Thanksgiving if we try to schedule a sixth Wednesday that doesn't conflict with other activities. The other dates are: Oct. 3, Oct. 24, Oct. 31 and Nov. 7.)

This course is designed for complete beginners, but it is a new course taught by someone new to teaching at HacDC, so it'll be a learning experience for everyone. (That's also one of the reasons we'll be keeping the class size low this first time around, though.)

By the end of the course, you should have some experience using basic electronic components (LEDs, switches, resistors, capacitors, simple digital logic) and test equipment (such as multimeters and oscilloscopes), and you'll have built a few useful (or at least interesting) circuits, including a night light, a basic power supply and a Larson scanner (Cylon eye).

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
