Developer pow-wow at SF in SF

Lets huddle and chat on a couple of the pressing topics such as what should go into 0.94 and when to cut the 0.94 branch.  The FB lads want to show the rest of us how to run phabricator+arc toolset (its sweet) and then lets do 14.5 seconds worth of blue-skying -- for fun -- before we deep dive into an ugly bug-fixing and testing session squeezing the last few dirties out of the 0.92 Release Candidate.

Lets start at 2pm and run it till late.

If you have a topic you think we should cover, post it up here.

Good stuff.

On the location, its at the Salesforce office at 1 Market Street.  The official address is "The Landmark @ One Market".  Folks should proceed to the 3rd floor to get visitor badges (You'll have to sign an NDA). Regards parking:

"According to some folks who drive to there're some public lots at Brannan & Embarcadero.

Better to use public transportation. There's a bart stop right next to the office. Here's a Google Map showing nearby parking lots:,-122.396729&spn=0.01187,0.020792&fb=1&gl=us&hq=parking&hnear=San+Francisco,+California&t=m&vpsrc=6&fll=37.786708,-122.396514&fspn=0.011871,0.020792&z=16
The ones near Folsom are were I used to park when I drove occasionally. Parking at Folsom is a 5 min walk to the office, we're on Market, between Spear and Steuart."

An Operations view: I'm new to the group efforts and Hbase tech. A lot of really bright engineering talent contributing to the effort.

Group doesn't function as unit which is to be expected from a 'community' open source effort where in reality, everyone has their own agenda back @ the office. No 'product boss' mind-set and lack of content delivery & time frame targets is problematic for non-contributors. I'm recommending back @ my place we get more involved technically to build Subject expertise.

As I observed during Hadoop development over last 3+yrs, in Hbase there is also insufficient attention in building test harnesses/processes to preserve the quality of the baseline as features are added.

No concrete decisions made or directions set. Because there is no 'revenue' business for the collective, it will continue to run randomly. Not sure of the value of the meeting other than for contributors to build face to face relationships useful when making code commits.
