Big Data Visualization Hackathon: 'Making the healthy choice in any environment'

Philips Design invites you to participate in this exciting Hackathon where the focus will be on creating interactive visualizations for any type of device (TV, tablet, smartphone etc.) based on health and well being datasets.

Examples of visualizations that would fulfill the purpose of 'making healthy choices in any environments' are; an interactive visualization that shows which part of the city is the safest and/or healthiest to live in , a visualization that summarizes the best healthcare center for each disease, or a visualization of the stressiest locations in the world? We challenge you to get creative with this topic!

If you want to build an interactive (or even real time) visualization like this, are creative enough to create your own useful combination of data with awesome results, and enjoy having fun with other creative people, social nerds, datascientist etc. come join us for this hackathon on October 12 and October 13.

Regarding the data sets: We will supply a broad range of datasets, but you can use your own as long as you are allowed to use them! More information about the datasets will follow soon.

Hard- and software: Bring your own necessary equipment, hard- and software tools. We supply power and Internet (and drinks and food obviously).

At the end of the Hackathon a jury will judge your interactive visualizations.

The following prizes are available for the teams:

• Overall € 1000,-.

• Best Concept € 500,-.

• Best Implementation € 500,-.

By participating in this Hackathon you allow Philips Design to publish your visualizations under the Creative Commons attribution 3.0 License.

We expect max. 70 participants, who will work in teams of around 2-6 individuals.
