First Dublin Hacks/Hackers Meet-up

This is the first meeting of Hack/Hackers Dublin. It's going to be a very informal affair, where journalists and programmers can meet up to discuss ideas around new media formats. Our first meet-up will feature a short talk from Paul Watson, CTO at Storyful. The meet-up is also coinciding with DCU's media conference held earlier that day. Hacks/Hackers will be attending and promise to drag along some of the speakers to the Library bar that evening. The conference (http://www.mediaconferencedcu.com/) features some of the worlds leading experts on the changing media landscape including NPR's Andy Carvin and author of 'We the media', Dan Gillmor. The meeting is open to anyone with an interest, hope to see you all there on Monday the 16th.

I think most people at last week's event seemed to enjoy the occasion. I've written a short description of the proceedings here. http://hujo.deri.ie/hackshackers-gets-dublin-reboot/

Thanks for having me and apologies for the machine gun delivery, bit of a nervous speaker! The tool I mentioned, Storyful MultiSearch, can be found in the Chrome Store; https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/storyful-multisearch/hkglibabhninbjmaccpajiakojeacnaf?hl=en

Always happy to answer questions, take suggestions or fix problems.

Sorry about that Peter, I tend to go off too hurriedly when face with a room full of people. Would be happy to show you MultiSearch, it's a useful tool for all journalists from web to TV to print to radio.

    Hi Bahareh,
Great to see this happening. I think there could be some synergies between this group & our IoT Dublin group. Unfortunately I'm out of town on Monday, but I would welcome catching up with you afterwards and finding out how your event went.
Best regards, and good luck, Ciarán.

Bahareh well done for setting this up. Maybe ping Eamon Leonard about the data group he is running and see if they will come too?

Hi guys, I'm interested in gong along, as a part time Journalist, but have no great digital knowledge. Would it be worth my while?

    1 · August 28, 2013

    • Bahareh R. H.

You should definitely come along Peter. The idea is to get techies and journalists to interact. Hope to see you on the 16th.
