Meet the Buzzfeed Open Lab

Details
Meet the current Buzzfeed Open Lab (http://buzzfeed.com/openlab) fellows and find out more about their work. BuzzFeed Open Lab for Journalism, Technology, and the Arts is a workshop in BuzzFeed’s San Francisco bureau, offering fellowships to artists and programmers and storytellers to spend a year making new work in a collaborative environment.
We’ll hear brief presentations followed by Q&A from:
Ben Kreimer experiments with 3D environments, 360-degree cameras, and drones as tools for experiential and spatial storytelling.
Ainsley Sutherland is developing Glance, an attention-based toolkit for experimental virtual reality interfaces.
Westley Hennigh-Palermo wants to talk about current events using games. He’s cynical about influence in Congress and frankly shocked by the shit VCs say (@shit_vcs_say).
GE Fellow Christine Sunu adds emotive technology to familiar objects. She is designing Buddy, an internet-connected stuffed animal for emotional narrative.
Saito Group, our Eyebeam fellow, aggregates geo-tagged social media content, compiles it into poems using a mix of human intervention and natural language processing and projects those poems back onto walls.
Amanda Hickman, Senior Fellow, is exploring a series of tools to facilitate audience engagement and participatory reporting.
Buzzfeed Open Lab is also currently accepting applications for the Fall 2016 class. Find us at http://buzzfeed.com/openlab
