[FOR JOURNALISTS, DEVELOPERS, ACTIVISTS. LIMITED SEATS. APPLY BY AUG 18. http://delhi.dbootcamp.org/registration/]
Over the past few years, India has seen significant growth in public information available to journalists, civic activists and developer communities for analysis and action. To contribute to this phenomenon, we need a crash course in the new skills, techniques and tools used by the world's leading open data practitioners to "follow the money" and track public spending.
After successful editions in South America, Eastern Europe and most of Africa, the International Center for Journalists' d | Bootcamp will debut in India this September, with support from the World Bank and Hindustan Times. This hands-on training weekend will give 30 journalists, 15 developers/designers and 15 civil-society and open-government representatives the opportunity to:
work with international trainers and local experts from organisations like BBC News, Code for Africa, ICFJ itself and event partners Hacks/Hackers Delhi and DataMeet
• build interactive content/resources around India's new budget and get a participation certificate for it ;)
Each of the bootcamp's three days will start with training in the processes and tools involved in sourcing/analysing/visualising open data, and then move on to group work where five 10-member teams work with mentors to build their respective projects. Click here for a detailed agenda.
Once you have applied using the link at the top of this page, do RSVP here or on this event's Facebook page too + invite others you think might be interested.
FYI, here are the recaps of some of H/H Delhi's past events:
• Showcase of Indian News/Newstech Startups
• Understanding Data Visualisation for Journalism in India

Hacks/Hackers is a global collective of people interested in the intersection between news and technology — journalists, developers, designers, product managers, entrepreneurs, students, and many more. In New Delhi, we regularly host expert presentations, skills workshops or group discussions focused on the latest trends/challenges in digital journalism. If you'd like to suggest an event theme, do write to us at [masked]
I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
