*** THIS EVENT IS FOR INFORMATION ONLY ***
I will not be able to host this event due to a family function, but I am posting the reminder for two reasons. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the wealth of museums in our Museum District, and we are fortunate to have many photographers in our group who are willing to share their photos.
Enjoy a free, family-friendly day at our annual Houston Museum District Day. On Saturday from 10am-5pm, 18 museums will offer free general admission and many museums will host special events and exhibits. Visitors are encouraged to walk from one museum to another, but in place of the traditional bus rides offered in the past, pedicabs (working for tips) will also be available — a new addition to the festivities.
This will be the last time that Houston Museum District Day will be held in this format. Starting next year, there will be specific days offered for different zones in the area.
As you can imagine, this is a very popular event. Please arrive early so you can find parking or take public trnasportation. Since one day will not provide enough time to see everything, please take a look at the museum district website to prioritize what you would like to see. Please be prepared for extreme walking and bringing bottled water and an umbrella would be recommended.
Due to construction downtown, there will be shuttle buses running from UH Station to the Downtown Transit Center instead of train service. Regular train service will operate between the Downtown Transit Center and Fannin South.
Since several of you have expressed interest in getting together as a group, I would recommend meeting in the MFAH Kinder Center between 10:00AM - 10:30AM. This library is located downstairs in the Law Building. You would proceed downstairs like you would go to the theater but then turn left. Go to the end of the hallway, and it is through the door on the right.
