Hike Nicholas Flat - Malibu

This is a relatively easy hike, but it is a hike with trails, brush and elevation gain. There are several trails in the area - we will be hiking on several of them for a total distance of about 5 miles. The overall climbing elevation should be less than 500 ft. There will be some nice Ocean views and a short break by a beautiful pond (no guarantee there will be water). Directions:

From San Fernando Valley - Take US-101 N to CA-23 (Westlake Blvd ) in Thousand Oaks. Turn left and follow CA-23 south for about 10 miles. Highway 23 will change from Westlake Blvd. to Mulholland Hwy. to Decker Road. Turn right on Decker School Road (not Decker School Lane) and follow it to the end.

Alternate Route (from L.A. Basin) - Take PCH (California 1)north to Decker Rd. (California 23) - continue 3.8 miles to Decker School Road, turn left and drive to the end.

What to bring: Comfortable hiking shoes, ample water, sun screen, something to snack on for an energy boost about midway and an appetite for Malibu Seafood afterward.
