Happy Monday - Live a happier year in 2014

Blue Monday, said to be the most depressing day of the year falls on the 20th January 2014. We're on a mission to shake things up a little this year and renounce Blue Monday as a day of optimism and gratitude to help everyone look forward to a positive year ahead, to be renamed Happy Monday.

With the help from our friends Action for Happiness, we're throwing a Happy Monday gathering for all to share ways we can live a happier year by working towards achieving our goals in business and life.

Join us at Poke London to welcome in the new year and together we can change the January blues to become a month of productivity and positive action. If you're looking to begin a new venture this 2014, or want to build a business with a happier ethos and better work-life balance, this is for you.

We're delighted to have Mark Williamson, Director of Action for Happiness giving a motivating talk and interactive session on the keys to happier living, much of which applies to businesses as well as individuals. Mark will be sharing his vision for a happier society, talk about how's he grown the organisation from an idea on a piece of paper to a mass-participation movement and how the business world has a real opportunity (and responsibility) to make a difference and help with their mission.

Mark Williamson is Director of Action for Happiness, a movement of people taking action to create a happier society.  Mark has a diverse range of experience across private and non-profit sectors, from start-ups through to large multi-national companies. He was previously Director of the Innovation unit at the Carbon Trust, non-executive director of clean-tech startup Solar Press, and founder of online initiative What You Can Do.

Tickets will sell out really quick on this one, so secure yourself a spot as soon as you can. All ticket costs go towards beers and pizza.

Schedule for the eve:

6.30 Arrivals, beers

7.30 Laurence McCahill, founder of The Happy Startup School on 'Our shared vision for a happier society'

7.40 Mark Williamson, Director at Action For Happiness on '10 keys to happier living' with some fun, interactive sessions.

8.20 Questions

8.30 Networking, Pizza & Close

Hope you can join us!

Nice, Dave. Here's a link to the program Mark mentioned www.dohappiness.org. Also check out some of the fun stuff we got up to in the run up to Christmas for inspiration :) http://spookstud.io/1f2Do9K

I couldn't help smiling when reading about the random acts of kindness. The happiness ripples continue spreading out...

Also following on from last night's event, you should watch our video of Nic Marks' brilliant talk at last year's Summercamp 'Why happiness is a serious business' (even Tina Turner gets a mention...!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86_SG4ztAx4

As part of the happiness drive / pay-it-forwards, if anyone would like an hour or two of web/programming consultation over tea and cake (#3 on my list of "things that make me happy!") in London, feel free to get in touch :)

Really looking forward to this. I cannot attend Wednesday meet-ups, so I think it is great that this one is on a Monday :-) See you all there.
