Arjen Roodselaar of Facebook on "Live extending and migrating multi-PB OLTP workloads"

"At Facebook we are regularly faced with extending the capacity allocated to our HBase clusters, all the way to the point where we need to replicate entire multi-PB datasets between datacentres, with minimal downtime. We found the success of these operations to be determined by our ability to tightly control the consumption of both disk and network bandwidth by the replication process. In this talk we will focus on the tools and the best practices we developed to exercise that control while extending and migrating our HBase clusters serving a demanding OLTP workload."
