HBase Meetup @ Apple

  • Apple Inc. Town Hall Auditorium

4 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA (map)

    37.332500 -122.028984

  • Our friends at Apple will host the January HBase meetup.

+ Cesar Delgado of the Apple Siri Team will give a talk entitled "Living on HBase"

+ Adela Maznikar of Facebook will go into detail on "Region Placement Policy for HBase"

+ Andrew Purtell of Intel on what is coming in the HBase imminent[masked] release.

Space is limited, so we'll only be able to provide admission to people confirmed on the RSVP "YES" list, and for building security we'll need you to provide your full name and an email address with your RSVP.

We'll be in Apple's Town Hall Auditorium at 4 Infinite Loop. If you've never been to Apple's campus, take a look at this Wikipedia page for reference: There are six buildings around the Infinite Loop circle, so 4 Infinite Loop is directly opposite the main entrance.

Please do not try to enter through the front entrance (at IL1). When driving to the meetup, instead drive all the way around to the back side of the loop and park near the IL4 entrance. That will be the only entrance available for the meetup.

To avoid parking problems, please plan to arrive at 6:15 or later.

Talks starting at 7pm.  Pizza and Beer will be in the Garages (upstairs in IL4) from 6:15pm on the and the talks will be downstairs in Town Hall, same building.  Apple folks will be here to show the way.  A few members of Apple's recruiting staff will also be available. If you're interested in working at Apple, come prepared!

    See you there!

    Fellow HBasers,

Unfortunately, due to scheduling difficulties with our room at Apple, we have to postpone the event. I'm really sorry for the late notice and hope that we can get this event rescheduled soon. Thank you for your understanding and my apologies to Andrew and Adela as I was really looking forward to their talks this week.

I made a mistake. I had it as Friday the 31st, rather than as Thursday, the 30th. Our Apple hosts just spotted my messup. I have changed it. Sorry about that.

While I have your attention, there are a good few on the waiting list. If you cannot come, please undo your RSVP so your slot can be taken by someone else. And don't forget, Apple Building Security will require full name and email so make sure your meetup profile includes these basics.

Thanks and again, pardon your 'organizers' miscalendering.
