HBase NYC Meetup #2

appnexus (map)

Selected By: Michael Stack

Come to the second HBase NYC Meetup on the night before Hadoop World opens at the AppNexus office. We will do 3-4 short (15 min) talks followed by some unconference style breakout/BOF sessions (If you would like to present, please drop us a note).

Here's a few of the scheduled talks (more to follow):

  • "Secure Collaboration with Symposium: An HBase/Accumulo Use Case" -- Francis Cianfrocca of Bayshore Networks
  • "Rowlog - Lily's magic HBase/Solr glue" -- Steven Noels of OuterThought
  • Otis Gospodnetic

Peeps, the HBase logo needs to be updated here.

In case its not clear, the Hadoop and HBase meetups are happening at the same place at the same time; its a combined meetup. Write me if there is still confusion. Yours, St.Ack

Why are NYC meetups being posted on a Bay Area HBase group?

@Mantas Good question. Its kinda dumb organizing an NYC meetup in the bay area group. Sorry about that. It won't happen again (we're almost done w/ this NYC one -- so noise should die down). Will create new groups for non-bay-area meetups from now on. Thanks for posting.

We're going to have a projector, food, drinks, etc over at the Tumblr offices and anyone who would like to come over starting at 6 is welcome to. We're going to watch the presentations via gotomeeting and then head out for drinks. The address is 35 E 21st St, Sixth floor, 10010.

If you're just interested in joining up afterwards we've got the back room at Almond (12 East 22nd Street) which is right around the corner. Drinks are on Tumblr.

Thanks, Blake! That's great to have some "overflow" space. Mind if we post this to the Hadoop User Group page as well? (this is a combined Hadoop+HBase meetup)

Sure, no problem Todd. Also, the drinkup at Almond will start about 8:30, or whenever the meetups are done.

Just to clarify, the main group at AppNexus is still planning on going over to Flatiron afterwards. The event at Almond is closer to Tumblr, but of course people are welcome at either bar.
