Rabi, I didn't speak from slides, but the slides from my schema presentation at HBaseCon 2012 are here:
For this session, Dave Wang's summary on the dev list got most of my points. Essentially, I'm asking whether stronger schema support directly in HBase would help anybody, and the reaction is mixed.

Help support your Meetup
HBase is a robust, scalable, distributed, column-oriented store capable of hosting billions of row of sparse, structured data. HBase is open source and part of the Hadoop project.
This meeting is for users and developers. Discussions will be around the most recent release of HBase, any issues users are having, and to help plan for the next release.
Definitely come if you're a current user of HBase; or if your company has plans for a huge data store and you're evaluating solutions.
Also check out the HBase Hackathon (http://www.meetup.com/hackathon/).

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
