Welcome to the High Point OLA organizational site

A majority of the residents and dog owners moved to the neighborhood in late 2006 - mid 2007. When the group was founded it was for social purposes and a way to get to know new neighbors. Members of The HPK9 Club went for walks together (around the neighborhood, hike at Camp Long, walk at one of the many beaches), enjoyed off-leash playtime at Westcrest Park, and even take a field trip to the Olympic Sculpture Park via shuttle and water taxi to downtown. In the background there was always the intent to gather together enough dog owners to be able to effect change upon the neighborhood and lobby for an off-leash area.

In February of 2009 the community was given the go-ahead to create an off-leash area (OLA) for dogs to exercise at SW Sylvan Way, High Point Drive and SW Holly Street. On the development plans it is referred to as Block 31 "Triangle Park". In March 2009 OLA project organizers created a survey for dog owners to fill out to gauge interest in the OLA and also willingness to volunteer money or time to the project. The meetup group was re-shaped at that point to focus primarily on the creation of an off-leash area.

You don't have to be a dog owner to join the group. Get some exercise and some dog pets in while socializing with your neighbors. Dog Owners and Lovers living in the surrounding areas are also welcome to join their neighbors at The High Point.
