Eddy & Ballentine Trail, Kansas City, MO

Hike with Bill Eddy and Dick Ballentine, authors of Hiking Kansas City, on their namesake trail near Swope Park. The 3–mile trail has been partially re-routed and extended due to a land swap. Bring your lunch and we will sit on some limestone outcroppings overlooking the valley below. $5 donation requested. Eileen McManus, 816-523-7823, eileen4250@sbcglobal.net

Directions: The trail begins at Blue River Road, 0.5 miles south of the Heart of America Golf Course (formerly known as the Swope Park Blue River Golf Course). Connect with Blue River Road on the north from Oldham Road or from 87th or 95th Streets on the south. The trailhead is on the east side of the road. Look for a clearing separated from the road by large rocks and a sign. I will forward you a Yahoo map.

You can park along the shoulder but there is limited parking. You can also park at the golf course parking lot and walk the half mile to the trailhead but give yourself an extra 10 minutes to get to the trailhead by 10.
