The Sandia and Mountainair Ranger Districts (and possibly Mount Taylor, not sure) will be entering into Stage II Fire Restrictions starting Friday June 25th.  There are absolutely NO campfires outside of developed recreation areas.  Only camp stoves and gas bbq grills will be allowed inside developed recreation areas--no charcoal, wood, etc.  NO SMOKING OUTSIDE--PERIOD.  If you have to smoke, it must be in a building or your enclosed vehicle.  No motorized vehicles off designated forest roads (that means no motorcycles on the motorized trails on the Sandia Ranger District--isn't THAT going to be fun to enforce!).  You can check the latest on fire restrictions on

There is a link on the front page to the latest fire restrictions.

Other forests, City and County Open Space and Bernalillo county are in or will be going to similar restrictions.  "Know Before You Go" is the motto.

And ABSOLUTELY NO FIREWORKS ON NATIONAL FOREST LANDS!

If Stage III restrictions are warrented and implemented, that means all of the trails will be closed.  Good news is latest monsoon predictions are for 1-2 weeks.
