Switzer Falls hike

Details

For the month of October I am going to hike the San Gabriel mountains/ Angeles National forest above La Canada/Flintridge area. IN particular it will be the Switzer pinic area and falls. The hike is 4 miles long. A there and back type of hike with 600 foot elevation gain and loss.
This is not a beginners hike, if you have been on a few hikes before you should do fine. To get there drive on the 110 north to its end in Pasadena. Then turn left on Del Mar and get on the 210 West. Get off on Angeles Crest Hwy (number 2). Drive up the Angeles Crest Hwy. Turn into the first driveway on the right past the intersection with Angeles FOREST Hwy. Go down to the parking lot, use caution on this road it almost one lane that you share with opposing traffic. Cost of parking is 5 dollars. You can get a pass at the USFS information center which is right at the intersection of Angeles Crest Hwy and Angeles Forest Hwy. They do take credit and debit cards but the server was down when I arrived, so cash might be a good idea. I wil be at the trailhead bridge right across from the only stop sign in the parking lot. Hope to see you there Norman
