Sycamore Canyon

Greetings all it is time to try Sycamore canyon again. Particulary at this time of year when all the monarch butterflies are there. Should be a spectacular sight. To get to sycamore canyon take the 10 freeway west to where it turns into Pacific Coast Hwy. Drive 32 miles north to Big Sycamore Canyon campground at point mugu state park. There is a day use fee. The day use fee is 12 dollars. The hike will be 9.5 miles in length. There is a good turn around point 3 miles into the hike where you simply go back to the start point. This is NOT a hike for beginners. When I was there on Nov 19 no butterflies as of that day, rangers said they have been showing up later every year. I dont know if we will see them but it is a nice hike anyhow with some great views. hope to see you there. Norman
