Wild Wild Hikes

Hi Wild Ones!
HERE'S SOME HIKING PREVIEWS:
The hike this Saturday is special because we will be taking a return route where not many people go. Camp Sturtevant has a lot of character and the canyon is gorgeous. There's a nice sized waterfall along the way that might be fun to splash around in if it's hot!
There is an AMAZING overnight scheduled for July 11th & 12th in the Sheep Mountain Wilderness. We will also be going places on that hike that not many people go (the East Fork Narrows and Iron Fork). There is lots of wildlife in that area: black bears, mountain lions, bighorn sheep, tarantulas, scorpions, snakes, lizards, gold prospectors, and bungee jumpers! There's cool rock formations and many swimming holes and cascades. Please join me- I'm too chicken to camp out by myself!!!!!!!!!!!
These two Meetups will be the last until September because I go to Michigan for 6 weeks every summer. Hiking in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan along Lake Superior is AWESOME!!! There are sand dunes, water falls, deserted islands, and plenty of wilderness and forests. If anyone is interested in visiting me there, send me an e-mail!
SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER:
Hikes I have in mind (not definite yet):
1. Bridge to Nowhere/East Fork Narrows- we will return from under the bridge at the river level instead of
from up above. This way we pass through a couple narrow chutes and Horseshoe Mine.
2. Lower Devil's Canyon Overnight- This one involves riding a mountain bike 6.5 miles, then hiking for
about 4.5 miles (including swimming across a few swimming holes!!) until we reach a waterfall. This one is
definitely "the route less traveled"! We found a mountain lion skull in there before!
3. Bear Creek (probably as an overnight)- this one is above Azusa and not many hikers go as far in as we will.
There's huge boulders and it gets very narrow north of Smith Saddle.
4. Santa Paula Canyon- this one has a cool side canyon that not many people go up into.
These are all hikes that are about 12 hours long (at a SLOWPOKE pace with lots of breaks!!) so I like to do them at a time of year where the days are still a little longer. Notice I like to do hikes where not as many people go ("off the beaten path"!).
THESE ARE ALL REAL ADVENTURES........STAY TUNED!!!!
HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON............
