Melakwa Lake

Details
This is my favorite lake hike on the I-90 corridor. The lake is located in a narrow valley with Chair Peak to the east and Kaleetan Peak to the west. It is known for its clear water and beautiful blue-green color. The trail to the lake follows a magical valley of waterfalls, rapids and lush forest.
Meet at 8am on the ground floor of the Issaquah Park & Ride garage to carpool to the trailhead. The park and ride is located at exit 15 off I-90.
Distance: 9 miles rt.
Elevation gain: 2300ft.
Rating: moderate.
Pace: moderate.
Bring some cash to cover the carpool fee and a stop for ice cream on the way back. 10 - 15 cents per mile is suggested for riders. It is about 38 miles each way from the park and ride to the trail head.
Note: A Northwest Forrest Service Pass is required for parking at the trail head.
