This is a three mile hike to the fire lookout at the summit of Mount Pilchuck. At the top you will find incredable panoramic views of the Cascades, Olympics and Puget sound.

Meet at 8:15am at the the Houghton Park & Ride in Kirkland to carpool to the trailhead. This is at the NE 70th Place I405 offramp. When you get off the freeway make your way to 70th Place NE and turn into the park and ride (There's also an entrance from NE 116th Ave NE which is close enough to see and walk over to the other half of the P&R)

It is about 55 miles from the park and ride to Mount Pilchuck. After reaching the Verlot Forest Service Ranger Station, travel one more mile East on the Mountain Loop Highway and turn right (south) onto Forest Service Road 42. Continue 6.9 miles to the trailhead.

Now that the cold, wet weather is with us, everyone should dress in appropriate hiking gear. Expect it to be cold at the top. Please do not wear cotton, jeans or tennis shoes. With that said, for properly equipped hikers, we go rain or shine.

Bring some cash to cover the carpool fee. 10 - 15 cents per mile is suggested for riders.

Note: A Forrest Service Pass is required for parking at the trail head.
