Goat Day and Pioneer Day in Blountstown

  • October 20, 2012 · 8:00 AM

NOTICE:

1. For those who wish to carpool to Blountstown and arrive at about 8 am, we will meet at the Lynn Haven Winn Dixie at 7:00 AM.

2. Publicity Chair Andi Beauchamp is coordinating our booth.  A few volunteers have already graciously offered to join her in Blountstown at 6:45 am to set up the booth.

3. Andi still needs a few more volunteers for various times of the day, so post here or call her to give her a hand!

4. One of our Chapter activities for the day will be a three-mile hike on the Blountstown Greenway, probably around 10:30 am.

Don't miss the 27th Annual Goat Day and Pioneer Days in Blountstown. We will be hosting our FTA Panhandle Chapter booth at the event.

This event is at Sam Atkins Park, on the west side of Blountstown.  As you drive in on SR 20 from the west, just before entering the center of town, turn left (north) on 19th St.  That will take you right to Sam Atkins Park.

Goat Day is from 8 am to 4 pm, and features great food, live entertainment, fun and games for the kids, and tons of arts and crafts booths. You can even have a plate of barbeque goat, if you so desire.  A modest entrance fee is required for Goat Day.

What makes Goat Day especially fun is that it coincides with Pioneer Days at the Pioneer Settlement and Museum, which is right next door to Sam Atkins Park.  All of the interesting Settlement buildings and displays will be open and operating - with free admission - and with lots to see and eat!

Hi Cathie and Sue, How about the 10-12 time slot? That might be a busy time of day. Thank you and see ya later.

I'd like to get volunteers for certain times. Please let me know which time slot that you can volunteer.
Set up 7:30 -10:00, 10-12noon, 12-2:00 and 2 - 4:00 pm. I know that most people will probably stay the entire day, but this way we'll have a set time for people to stay with the booth.

    Thank you!

Good morning Shirley. I heard from Ron about the set up times. I will try to be there at 6:45 a.m. If you and Charlie could meet me there that would be great. It won't take long to set up. I do not know where in the park that we'll be setting up. I guess they will tell us when we get there. Ron, do you know of our location in the park?

Andi & Shirley, they will tell you when you drive up where you will be. Just say you're the Florida Trail booth.

Hello All, Looking forward to a great Goat Day and Pioneer Day this Saturday.
I still need some volunteers for the 10-12 shift AND the 12-2 shift if anyone can step up.
If you have a lawn chair or two, please bring it along. Something to drink for yourself, or cookies to share! LOL Wear your Orange shirts if you have one, or bring $$ to buy one. Green shirts are fine too.
Bring some hiking gear to show off or use during one of the hikes. And bring your happy smiling self and lets have some FUN!! See you all on Saturday morning.

I got a call from Charissa and she will also work the 10-12 shift. Got a call from Brenda and she will work the 2-4 shift with Barbara. Thanx ladies for stepping up. I still need the 12-2 shift covered. Of course, more people for each time slot will be great.

Sure, I will plan on 10-12 shift.

Goat Day is held at Sam Atkins Park. Not sure of an address.

It is off Hwy 20. If you come down Hwy 20 you will see a sign that says "Goat Day" and you turn to go down to Sam Atkins Park. They usually have deputies assisting with traffic and parking. Sam Atkins Park is west of downtown but still very close to Blountstown.

Andi, I would like to take the 2-4 time slot. And will stay for breakdown.
