Here is another opportunity to join the Capital District Volunteer Meetup group help the Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park clean up the trails for the upcoming year. The Park and PTNY are billing this as part of the Statewide "Love Your Park" day!

The plan is to meet up with Chris Roe at the Park Office (Directions at bottom) at 9am and then work till 12 noon. They will be providing energy bars, fresh fruit, chips, pretzels and drinks afterwards.

of Grafton Lakes back at the Park Office. They will be using hand pruners, folding saws, loppers, garden rakes and works gloves, if people who are coming to help out own them.

What they will be doing this time is continuing the work of "clearing the corridor" for the newest approved multi-use trail in the Park, which Chris Roe designed two years ago. He wants to give participants a first-hand glimpse of what work goes into creating a new trail out of virgin forest, stating with nothing. It is pretty exciting stuff and there will be a lot more for people to do that is hands-on work.

Kids and adults alike are welcome to participate. It is a very social and relaxed day...a great way to out in nature and enjoy the fresh mountain air...experience the woods as everything is just starting to come out of winter hibernation.

There will be two more dates in the upcoming next months to help out again...watch for them.
