For those wishing to carpool, recommend leaving from the Newport News Carpool Location (Village Square at Kiln Creek) at a time to be determined either Friday night but NLT 8 am Saturday morning. Google maps says it's a 4 hr 45 minute trip, but that doesn't account for traffic snarls, and additionally, Runforyourlives website recommends showing up at least 2 hrs early (for packet pickup and other pre-race processing).  We can adjust carpool departure time(s) from Newport News based on group feedback to support a 3 pm wave Saturday race start time.  (Recommend traveling up Fri night, but realize this may not be preferred by everyone ... we can always travel up in two waves and work out carpools based on preferences.)

Participants must bring an official form of ID

Change of clothes and towel are highly recommended

$10 parking fee

Can work camping and/or hotel accommodations as we go. Will look into options for those who want to travel up Friday night. Camping is only available onsite Saturday night...NOT Friday night. The camping package is an additional $20 per person. This package gives each camper access to set up camp in the designated camping area within the Run For Your Lives’ race property.  Tents only, no RVs.  Campers will be able to set up their tent in the sectioned-off, designated camping area at any time throughout the day.  The camping area will expand after the racing portion of the event concludes.

There will be a number of community campfires for everyone to enjoy. If you would like to enjoy your own campfire, please bring a small grill or an above-ground fire pit.  Ground fires will not be permitted.

Let me know if you're interested in meeting for early lunch at Union Hotel Restaurant at 11 am on Sat, for "final meal". Also, if you need a ride up on Fri night, final call to let me know is Thurs 6 pm. Otherwise, I'll assume you're covered! If you prefer to call or text:[masked]

Day of: if you don't want to meet for early lunch and just want to meet at event, if you want to meet at the event, I don't have any idea whether there's a good place to meet up. I think I've finally settled on a Katniss costume (a very short version of her!), so if you're looking for the person you can probably outrun, look for the short Katniss. Otherwise, good luck!

Josh - what time are you running on Sunday?

I'm planning to drive up late Fri night, and book (not-expensive) hotel Fri night; and camp on Sat. Will drive back Sun AM. Please let me know if you need a ride, by end of Mon, 22 Oct. Otherwise, if you have a good idea where to meet, let me know!

9 am through 2:30 pm waves are full, the next in the queue to fill, by trend, is 3 pm (OURS) ... not to say we couldn't still carpool if you end up with a later time :) but, if you think you may want to run it with a group that you sort-of know via this forum, time is running out!

Cool article/video on the event, plus some intel on fast/slow zombies, and survival tips!

You want to run it ... you know you do!

Hey everyone! I'm tentatively planning to drive up Friday evening, but I haven't worked out the details. Thought we'd work out carpools closer to the event. To facilitate, please post whether you want to travel up Friday night or Saturday morning, or if either day works. I've never done this event so no idea what to expect! I'll look into options to sync up Fri evening if there's interest. Cell phone number (evenings)[masked]
