Monthly Meetup: Code for America + Crafting a better CLI
Details
Our monthly meet up for May will be held on May 15th instead of the 1st Tuesday so we can host a special guest speaker, Wryen Meek (@wryenmeek, https://www.meetup.com/hub-py/members/11608874/). Wryen will be sharing information with the group about some efforts he's leading in the Upstate to organize a Code Brigade (see http://codeforamerica.org).
We'll also have an informal discussion about Crafting a better CLI (command line interface). http://click.pocoo.org/ was recently announced and we'll look at how it can help us craft better command line interfaces for tools we build and use.
Command line tools don't often get much attention but many of us make and use them each day. Look for the group upstairs at the Growler Haus in downtown Spartanburg. Note: this is a BYOB (Buy your own beverage) event and buying a beverage is not required to attend the meet up. Several group members have inquired about rotating meet up locations to allow members to continue chatting/coding/hanging out after the meet up is over. This will start our rotation of meet ups between the Iron Yard, Growler Haus, ... and The Space at Wofford College (starting in the Fall) If you'd like to see a meet up at your favorite spot in Spartanburg, let @corbinbs know and we'll see about adding it to the rotation.
