Subject: Latest on Lady the dog owned by the elderly man

For those of you who don't know:  "Lady" is a dog in need of a new home.  She was adopted from a pound in Marrero by an elderly man when she was a smaller pup and he is not able to handle her.  He stays at his daughter's house across the lake for days at a time and the neighbors have taken it upon themselves to feed/water, walk, and socialize her.  The elderly man was going to bring her back to the pound when, neighbor, Tammy stopped him and begged him to keep her for a little while longer so she could find her a new home.  The elderly man agreed but has stopped caring for Lady.  Here is the latest:
I recieved a call tonight from Tammy saying that she was concerned that something was going to happen soon.  She has not seen the elderly man in the longest time and is now hearing that his house is for sale.  Paul, my husband, is picking her up as I write and bringing her to our home.  I will be taking pictures and sending them to you guys to spread the word.   I will put her on craigslist and make a dogster page for her b/c she needs a fabulous home and fast.  She is a lab mix from the description I have gotten.  l already know she is great with other dogs and kids and she walks on the leash.  She needs someone with a firm and gentle hand to discipline and love her b/c she is not yet a year old.  She is a very trainable.   If you don't know of anyone who would love this girl please just say some prayers for her and us while we are searching for a good home for this special dog.  She was saved once from the pound by this elderly man and now she will be given a second chance by our family and our wonderful group to find her forever home.
We now have Lady here and we took her for a walk with Sam b4 bringing her in the yard.  She is sweet and loveable.  She does not have any formal training but is sitting fairly well on command as you can see in the pics.  She loves the camera which is good b/c I love taking pics(got a new camera for my bday!).  She allowed me to brush her b/c she is getting a bath tomorrow when I get home from work.  No problems so far.  She is asleep on my deck.  I would have brought her inside but it is too late to bathe her and I don't have the time to spend tonight to get her acquainted with Sam inside the house.  SHE IS SO ADORABLE.  She looks like a bigger Sam to me.    Please open your hearts to help us find her a home.  Tammy's daughter cried when Paul arrived and asked him if Lady would come on walks with the Pack.  Paul told her that as long as we had her she would come on walks and maybe the new owner would become a part of our pack .  She so badly wants to see Lady again on our walks!
