A evolutionary science talk: "After Kitzmiller, What's Next for Creationism?"

Details

We are very happy to host Glenn Branch, Deputy Director of the National Center for Science Education, for a talk on evolution and creationism.

Abstract
Kitzmiller v. Dover, the 2005 case establishing the unconstitutionality of teaching intelligent design creationism in the public schools, was a pivotal event in the history of the creationism vs. evolution controversy in the United States. Glenn Branch from the National Center for Science Education will discuss why Kitzmiller was the effective end of the second phase of anti-evolution
strategy and what the third phase is going to be like.

Glenn Branch is a philosophy grad from UCLA, where he won scholarship and teaching prizes, Glenn Branch is a long-time student of creationism, "intelligent design", and pseudo-science. Branch is co-editor of Not in Our Classrooms: Why Intelligent Design Is Wrong for Our Schools, and the author or coauthor of numerous articles on creationism and evolution for Scientific American and other science publications.

This is a free meeting sponsored by WASH, Washington Area Secular Humanist and open to all. We will also be organizing a Drinking Skeptically session after the talk to relax and continue the conversation.

Out Location, the EOB in Rockville, is opposite the Metro stop and can be reached via a pedestrian walkway over Rockville Pike. There is (pay) parking in the building or 2 hr free parking by the library, 3 blocks away which validates the free parking in the library once you park.
