Freethought Family Thanksgiving

From: Jason F.
Sent on: Tuesday, November 10, 2009, 1:34 AM
Hey Guys, the Holidays are fast upon us, and as Secularists; some of us wonder what do we have to celebrate.
Is participation in religious ceremony and tradition a guilty pleasure or an indulgence too far?

This Sunday,
With thanksgiving around the corner, the pilgrims bring to us the scents of turkey and stuffing, and the ideals of the Freedom of Religion.
But also the idea that it is the Freedom of their Religion to oppress other religions and other people.
Was a country founded as a Christian Nation?
Come discuss this with HASD as Jason leads a rousing discussion on our skeptical founding fathers.
This Sunday (11/15), 6 pm at the Joyce Beers Center
This is a potluck event, bring food to share, and come for the enriching presentation and rousing round of discussion.

Saturday 11/21 Coffee & Conversation venue TBA- please RSVP by Monday 11/16 if you are interested

Saturday November 28th, after your fourth left over turkey sandwich, join us for our Free Thought Family Thanksgiving edition of Coffee & Conversation.
Join us for our usual list of current events, political & religious humor, and camaraderie Saturday, November 28th at Joyce Beers (7pm).
This is our Free Thought Family Thanksgiving. For those who have no other Thanksgiving plans, we will be having a Thursday dinner (please rsvp before Wednesday 11/25)
This is a potluck bring food to share, and let's celebrate being thankful for the separation of church and state, reason, and each other.

In December join us for Coffee & Conversation, an event that is just coming together between us and a church organization for an inter-traditional holiday helping for the needy, and our year-end Human Lights Celebration with special guest.

We are working the details out with special guest, but it is going to be a good one! (tickets will be ten dollars, and a special?prior to the meeting?"dinner with the deity" will be announced )

Also coming up, join us in January for our fourth annual whale watch! it keeps growing every year, and this year will definitely be the best!
