This is outrageous and the actions of the Texas public school cheerleaders are clearly unconstitutional. I am perplexed as to why the judge needs several weeks to decide the proper ruling. Note the following:

There is no doubt the prayer banners are offensive to many, Christian and non-Christian alike. While many reject religious superstition on its face, even devout Christians have a hard time seeing what is supposed to be sacred trivialized in such a crass and commercial fashion. To think that a Christian god would care about a high school football game while other children suffer only serves to demean and belittle the Christian faith and those that cherish it.

To be charitable to the Cheerleaders in Texas, it is important to note that they are still minors, and ultimately pawns of Christian extremists determined to impose their brand of Christianity on the tiny town of Kountze. From the outside it seems to be a sad case of small town religious bigots trying to preserve a dying and ignorant world view from extinction.
