Take a Walk in the Park(s) 4 Health/Humanism! Mt Tabor Redux: 3 Trails/3 Speeds!

Mt Tabor has three trails that start and end at the kiosk at the main parking area (near the visitor's center just east of the basketball court across from the intersection of SE Salmon Way/North Tabor Drive/East Tabor Drive) and are rated by level of difficulty, the first being an easy walk. Buses serve the surrounding neighborhoods; you can choose #15 which brings you within a block of the visitor's center, then follow the short (but steep) path to the kiosk; or, call the host's cell from the #71 stop at 60th and Salmon for a ride up the hill to our stepping off point.

We're moving out-of-doors with the warmer weather! Join HGP-Meetup's weekly Saturday morning health walk, now at a park near you! Nothing too strenuous (we still want to be able to walk-and-talk) though we'll test our limits as we shape up.

Do you have a Darwin/Dawkins/Humanism T-shirt? Remember to wear it so we can spread a little science and reason as we share the trails -- and don't forget a water bottle, hat and cell phone.

Plan to meet a few minutes early so we can pair up and be ready to start the walk together at 9:00. We'll meet in the parking lot nearest the trailhead and return there to carpool to a nearby coffee shop for something caffeinated and to continue the conversation.

Let's get out from under those fluorescent mall lights! The ladies issue this challenge to the guys: start your day off right with a brisk walk under a natural canopy. Teens, and older children with adult supervision are welcome.

Are you a Rabbit, Turtle, or Mollusk (those who must travel at a snail's pace)? We probably have someone in the group who can walk at your speed; if you are a Super-Humanist you may need to bring your own walking partner, depending on the steepness of the trail.

We've never canceled! Steady rain sends us back to the closest of our favorite malls, but a light sprinkle is a go! To get the Event Host's cell number in case you can't find us, email them from their member page before the activity by clicking on their name.

All Meetup fees are paid by the Humanists of Greater Portland through your memberships; donations towards the work of HGP are greatly appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you -- bring a friend!
