Sick of being cooped up during the winter months? Let's go on a scenic hike followed by dinner in Newport, Rhode Island! Winter is a great time to explore the beauty of the Rhode Island shoreline and Newport is a great place to eat tasty food. This promises to be a fun, beautiful and tasty combination of events!

When: 4 p.m. on Friday, March 13th
Where: We will meet in front of the Visitor Center at Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge. Look for Joy and Matt, who will arrive in a light blue Rio with CT plates and a small HVH sticker.

What: The hike will be 3-4 miles long. We will do the Ocean View loop & the Flint Point Loop and end by taking a stroll down Third Beach. We will walk at a moderate pace.
Sachuest Point is well-known for its awesome birding and has the largest winter population of harlequin ducks in the East. More information about the refuge can be found here: http://www.fws.gov/refuge/Sachuest_Point/

Please come prepared for this hike. Essentials to bring include: hiking boots, winter layers, water, food and snacks.
